About Ruth
Dr. Ruth Alice Morgan-Jones brings four decades of practice to her counselling work. She combines long experience with a calm, thoughtful style.
Ruth helps people facing relationship strain, grief, parenting challenges, anxiety and other life changes. She works in English and sees clients across the United Kingdom and internationally. Ruth trained first as a social worker and later completed a PhD at the London School of Economics.
Her doctoral research became a book on how hearing loss affects family life, and she is an accomplished lipreader.
How Ruth works
She also holds a diploma in family therapy and is a senior member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). Her background includes founding and leading a charity that supported people with special needs and their families, and more than a decade of delivering diversity training to charities and agencies.
She has a long-standing interest in intercultural relationships and is writing a book on that subject. In clinical work she blends several ways of working rather than following a single method. She draws on attachment ideas, psychodynamic thinking, Jungian perspectives and client-centred principles to help people understand patterns and make practical changes.
Sessions often focus on boosting confidence, improving communication and planning next steps. Ruth aims to create a straightforward, respectful space where people can talk through painful experiences and build coping strategies. She supports people dealing with depression, bipolar moods, trauma, parenting strain, eating and sleeping problems, ADHD-related concerns, career issues and compassion fatigue.

How her approaches work online
Attachment-based work looks at how early connections shape current relationships and helps people spot repeating patterns. This approach is useful for intimacy problems, abandonment worries and communication breakdowns.Client-centred therapy focuses on listening and reflecting so people feel understood and can find their own solutions. It suits those wanting a supportive space to talk through difficult choices and build self-esteem.
Ruth will help decide which approach, or combination, fits best. Finding the right method is part of therapy and she works collaboratively to match methods to each person's goals and preferences.
Online sessions are offered as video calls, phone sessions, live chat or text-based messaging to fit different routines and needs. Video calls are good for face-to-face conversation, phone sessions need less bandwidth and suit shorter check-ins, while chat or messaging can be used for ongoing reflections between meetings. These options make it easier to fit therapy into work, family life or long-distance arrangements and help maintain continuity when schedules change.
